30 Jan A Tale of a Piece
This is one of our favorite pieces to come through our shop. We believe it is because it was so interesting to watch it take form and to witness the process from beginning to end.
This 12 foot wide custom built, tufted, curved banquette required over 70 hours of work from our team members. It consists of 37 back braces, 32 no sag springs, 150 feet of jute webbing, and over 7,000 staples.
The piece was completely hand tufted by one person. Tufting is very labor intensive and takes an experienced and particular upholsterer to perform such a task. There are a total of 118 button tufts in this piece. This action alone took about ten hours. A total of 22 yards of fabric were used and 15 yards of bullion fringe adorn the bottom of the tailored skirt.
The end result is this stunning handcrafted banquette, in which it’s owner is very pleased.
